A Winters Tale ...

by Toby....senior african grey parrot,extraordinaire..! - 14:54 on 06 January 2010

Greetings everyone, thought it was about time that I put in an appearance on the Feufield blog.Whilst perching comfortably in my log cabin, I have been watching those pesky hens and ducks take all the glory and writing blogs.Well now,my name is Toby and I am an african grey parrot who has been with my human slave for 17 years ! ( It's my bithday on 11th,February,do feel free to send me a card !) We usually have a parrot tea party to celebrate,Friends of Feufield are welcome to book and join us-if you dare ! I am a very intelligent chap who is also very musical.I do a particularly good rendition of "Lambeth Walk" a' la Roger Whittacker ! complete with an oye at the end and raising of a foot to simulate the "thumbs up!" As you can tell we are all just one big eccentric family here at Feufield.I have other talents that I shall impart on my next blog, providing I can get that bolshie, one eyed black rock hen,Hetty, away from the keyboard.PS check out my "Toby's Exotic " pear and lemon jam and chutney-must dash here comes some treats............

I will be visiting you shortly mr parrot. I am curious to know about your species as I believe one of your kind may be coming to live with us. I am not happy about this I suspect the attention will be taken away from me. Anyway I have to go on my walk now and chase those squirrels such fun in the snow

We bought6 fertilised eggs from Feufield in September and put them under a broody bantam. One egg broke and 4 hatched - the other did nothing. We now have a white cockerel and 3 hens that have weathered a horrendous winter and have settled in with our other 6 hens. Looking forward to hatching more I hope - if our new cockerel fertilises the eggs. It was so much fun doing this I thoroughly recommend it. Heather

Having been a regular customer at Feufield for almost 2 years now and regularly added to my hen collection, I can say that every hen/cockerel I have had from Feufield has been of the utmost quality and I have never been disappointed. They have given me hours of pleasure and continue to do so. Thank you Kim & Jackie for all your hard work with the farm, in order to bring a bit of chicken heaven to us all! I am a convert!.....Clare x
